Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a condition in which you have frequent and repetitive thoughts (obsessions) that cause you to perform repetitive behaviours (compulsions) interfering the normal daily routine.
Obsessive thoughts can include:
- Fear of dirt dust and contamination
- Constant doubts
- Excessive concern with symmetry
- Repeated sexual/aggressive thoughts
- Difficulty in discarding old and worn-out items-hoarding
- Anxiety and panic attacks are frequently associated with ocd
Compulsive habits can include:
- Doing tasks in a specific order
- Needing to count things, like steps or bottles
- Repeatedly checking things, such as locks, switches and doors.
- Rituals of washing and cleaning.
- Saying certain words or prayers while doing unrelated tasks.
Is OCD treatable?
Yes… A combination of Psychotherapy (talk therapy) and medication is usually required with good long-term results.
Medications are safe with minimal to no side effects and very well accepted by most patients.

Erp (exposure and response therapy)
Are the most common forms of therapy used. These are scientifically approved and tested forms of treatment options for OCD.
